The 10th Wuzhen Theatre Festival took place from October 19 to October 29, 2023, in China. One of the most notable productions of this event was “Contes et Légendes” by the French theatrical company Louis Brouillard, a fictional documentary about adolescent self-construction and the myth of the artificial creature. Joël Pommerat continues his observation of contemporary values and identities, this time staging a slightly futuristic world in which humans and social robots cohabit. Like an anthropologist of the future, he observes a series of relationships between adolescents, adults and androids.
At the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, “Contes et Légendes” shone through its distinctive artistic expression and thematic depth, successfully captivated the Chinese audience while prompting profound reflections on contemporary issues.
